Well, I finally scored my first complete Shanklin Metal
Products carbide lamp. Here are some overall images and
detailed images of this lamp. Notice that the Shanklin
name on the top of the water chamber, someone has
obviously tried to blank out the name with solder. The
same can be seen on the carbide bottom, however the
solder has all but worn off with use.
This version has
the reflector brace with the raised square feature on
it. This cap brace has also been nicely soldered to the
lamp & from what I can tell this was done at the factory
and not by a "do-it-yourself" miner (Please see the
detailed reflector brace images). E-mail
correspondence with Larry Click indicates that this
would be the third version of this type of lamp that he
has seen. Non-soldered reflector brace & form fitting
reflector without a brace being the other two types.
The
last set of images shows the reflector, from the front &
back with & without the tip & wingnut, highlighting it's
raised square feature on the front. This would allow it
to fit nicely to the raised square on the aforementioned
reflector brace (Again, please see the detailed
images of the reflector) - Shanklin Metal
